Cycling History: In 1987 I started competing in triathlons. I entered my first race with a borrowed bike. That started it all. I caught the bug a started racing Olympic, Half Ironman and Ironman distance races. Competed in my first cycling races in 1989, didn’t complete in my first mountain bike race until the mid 90’s. While predominately a “roadie”, I compete in mountain and cyclo-cross as well, and still do the occasional triathlon.

Things that keep me from riding:

Dream Bike: 1964 Schwinn Sting-Ray. Isn’t it the reason we all ride bikes? Who didn’t want one growing up?

Cycling History: Assuming you don’t want to read about my paper route, or my sky-blue huffy 10-speed as a boy, I began riding to fill the time when my former employer ran out of money to pay us and we ran out of interest in working. That was ten years, three bikes and a few extra pounds ago. Now I enjoy racing and club rides along with tooling around the countryside with my teammates and friends.

Things that keep me from riding: Oddly enough my current employer pays me, unfortunately they also expect me to show up for work. Sometimes life isn’t fair. However, since my current employer also sponsors this team, I can’t really complain too much.

Dream Bike: All-white LOOK 595 with full Campy components. The best part is: I now own it and my beautiful wife Julie didn’t get mad when she found it!

Cycling History: Started mountain biking in 93' mostly around the Smoky Mountains. I began road cycling in 2002 and I've accomplished some initial riding goals including 5 centuries and traversing Smoky Mountain National Park from Gatlinburg, TN to Cherokee, NC and back. I also completed the Cycle to the Sun event in Maui, Hawaii. A 35 mile climb from sea level to 10,005 feet.

Things that keep me from riding: My job, grad school, a new baby on the way, my incredible wife Alice and the one sunny night a week I must sacrifice to mow my lawn. It's all good!

Dream Bike: Pinarello Dogma; it wouldn't make me a better cyclist, but I'd look dead sexy.

Cycling History: I've been riding seriously since the mid-80's when I worked at a small bike shop in a Chicago suburb. I didn't start road racing until I moved to Minneapolis in 1999, where I rode for the Minneapolis Bicycle Racing Club/Flanders Team. Since moving to Louisville in 2003 I've raced sporadically as an independent, until joining the Twinspires.com Team.

Things that keep me from riding: Work as a philosophy professor at the Univ. of Louisville; my family, including our first daughter Isabella who was born in August of 2007; and renovating our house in Old Louisville.

Dream Bike: Any bike that carries me at high velocity over the road or through the woods.

Cycling History: Started riding seriously in 1981 to rehabilitate a serious knee injury. First season of racing in 1985 after graduating college. Took a break from racing (but not riding) in 1999 with the birth of our first son. Now getting back into racing road, mountain bike, cyclocross, and BMX (I’ll do anything to spend time with my kids).

Family: Wife Dena, Son David and Michael, Daughter Katie

Things that keep me from riding: Spending time with my family and trying to get Bluegrass Bicycle off the ground. If you want to ride, do not open a bike shop!

Dream Bike: Pinarello Prince, Merckx AXM (Campagnolo of course!), Litespeed Sewanee, There are so many!! Also a BMW K1200S (I currently ride a K1200RS).

Cycling History: Historically logging the bulk of my mileage via mountain bike (as a supplement to marathon training over the years), I’ve significantly increased road cycling within the last year or two, hoping to make a smooth transition from being primarily a solo rider to more of proficient road racer (and triathlete). I have also completed two Ironman competitions.

Things that keep me from riding: Work.

Dream Bike: Assuming a vintage Harley Davidson doesn’t qualify as road-ready, a Cervelo P3 Carbon Demo would more than suffice.
